, The UNICEF UK On Campus Cambridge Society is hosting its first Awareness Event of the year, on the topic of Child Education, one of UNICEF's eight Millennium Development Goals. We'll be exploring the topic with a panel of experts to understand the problems we face, the difficulties in solving them, and the various strategies that are being deployed to ensure all children have access to an education. The event will be in ROOM G34 of the Law Faculty Building, Sidgwick Site, University of Cambridge. Our guest speakers are: CATHERINE BOYCE, DIRECTOR OF ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT AT CAMFED Camfed (https://camfed.org/) is an international charity working to eradicate poverty in rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa through the education of young women. Since 1993, Camfed’s programs in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi have directly supported more than 2.6 million students to attend primary and secondary school. DR. PAULINE ROSE, FACULTY OF EDUCATION, UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE Dr. Rose is a Professor of International Education and Director of the Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the Faculty of Education. She is also a Senior Research Fellow at the UK Department for International Development and has advised international aid donors and NGOs throughout her career. RUTH CHITTY DIRECTOR OF UMUNANDI Umunandi (https://www.facebook.com/pg/umunandi.charity/about/) is a family-run grassroots charity that focuses its work on one slum in the capital of Zambia. Its aim is to help orphaned and vulnerable children get an education through sponsorship and support. We recommend a donation of £3 on the door, though this is not compulsory. All proceeds will be divided between UNICEF, Camfed, and Umunandi. Please also bring change to purchase light refreshments at the event. This is a non-ticketed event, so ensure you arrive promptly to guarantee seats. Please message the page or email [email protected] in advance if you require any access arrangements. - UNICEF UK On Campus Cambridge - SIGN UP TO THE MAILING LIST: http://cm.pn/3ivt LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/UNICEFinCambridge/ FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/unicefincambridge/ CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE: https://unicefoncampuscambridge.weebly.com/ Raising awareness about UNICEF's work is as important as raising money to support it - we want to ensure people know why UNICEF is such a great charity to support, and to be aware of where there money will be making a difference.
We are therefore looking for an Awareness Officer. In this role, you would advise the Committee on UNICEF projects and commitments worldwide to ensure that we can incorporate this information into our events and better broadcast our purpose. You should already have some knowledge about UNICEF, and be prepared to research and follow their work to stay updated.
